For the very first time, the High Commission of Malaysia in Ottawa proudly hosted a Malaysia Day celebration in Toronto. The event welcomed around 170 Malaysians, former Malaysians, and Friends of Malaysia including members of the Malaysian Association of Canada for an evening filled with pride, community, and cherished memories of our homeland.

In her keynote speech, Her Excellency Dato’ Dr. Shazelina Zainul Abidin, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Canada, highlighted that being Malaysian is an inseparable part of our identity. She urged everyone to hold on to the best of Malaysia, its culture, memories, and spirit, no matter how far from home they may be. She also encouraged Malaysians abroad to stay connected by registering with their nearest High Commission or Embassy.

Henry Lee, Chairman of the Malaysian Association of Canada, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Her Excellency, noting that the High Commissioner had “fired up the spirit of Malaysia” for all who attended this landmark celebration.

Thank you to everyone who joined in making this celebration so special. For our community in Toronto, this event was a meaningful reminder of the pride and unity we share as Malaysians abroad.
Happy Malaysia Day from all of us in Canada!
